we could see the highway from our spot
tall and into the sky
"what the fuck is that?", i asked. "a flame on the ground?"

"get in the fast lane!" i yelled, i took a side ways glance,
his eyes were one-way conversations
when i first met him,he seemed no longer living
we both were gone
seeing each other up ahead
